Express Yourself

With Ali and Gwen

Experience a unique, joyful and creative day at our Express Yourself workshop!

It is vital for our health and wellbeing that we acknowledge and express ourselves fully. We now know that when we repress our emotions or our need to be seen, heard and acknowledged that we are at greater risk of disease and depression.

In this workshop we will create a safe container for you to gently explore some deeper layers of your being through a variety of outlets including sounding, guided movement, and creative art play. No vocal or art skills are required. This is an intuitive practise that will help you to trust in the wisdom of the body to express itself how it needs to. Expression, the opposite of suppression, is a tool that we are born with, our birth right. And when put in practise, it can aid us to release that which may be holding on; tension, fears, anxieties. It allows us to see ourselves more clearly and solidify our place in the world. It can bring ease and fun to the intensities of daily life.

How often do you get the chance to sing and play with life as an adult? This is your chance!

Come express your true self and join us for a unique, wonderful  and uplifting experience!

This workshop includes:

  • a vocal sounding session;

  • a moving Meditation;

  • a creative art play discovery;

  • an uplifting Yoga Flow;

  • a Yoga Nidra, and

  • a nutritious meal.

About Ali Thompson

Ali is an embodied mover, yogi, dancer, singer and artist with a BA Hons in fine art and a 200 hr YTT in ‘embodied flow’ yoga. Originally from Scotland she has travelled the world extensively, collecting tools and carving out life. Ali facilitates ecstatic dance and contact improvisation and is the creator of Soma Studios, a creative embodiment hub in Tauranga. Her passion is to help people find a sense of liberation through free movement and creativity in the moment. Her belief is that movement and expression allows us to change and work with the energy in our bodies, move through moods, emotions and anxieties. These practices give us space to drop out of the mind and allow the body to do what it knows how to do: heal, express, enjoy, and be in the ever evolving moment and move with the ever changing landscape of life with ease and understanding.
